3 ESSENTIAL CALCULATORS AND STATEMENTS

Please login to use the calculators.

Every business, every company has three critical statements, its BALANCE SHEET, its INCOME STATEMENT and finally its CASHFLOW STATEMENT, which the business maintain rigorously and publishes quarterly in the case of public companies.

These 3 statements can tell us everything we needs to know about the business and its financial health. But we, as individuals rarely prepare or keep a tap on these and therefore lack awareness of our own financial health, and for those that do, they do it so close to their “retirement”, that these statements include negative surprises for them, leading many to postpone their retirement.

Well, in order to “retire” referring to leaving one’s employment or closing and selling one’s business(es) for good, we need a positive cashflow to sustain our lifestyle and a lifetime income source which comes from investing in the markets and the world around us. Investing is the essential means towards that financial freedom and independence.

  1. To know what to invest in and how much (portfolio allocation), we need to know how much we have which comes from our balance sheet (by taking stock of our assets and liabilities).

2. To know what lifetime income we require, we need to know our expenses based on our lifestyle which comes from our income statement.

3. Finally, bringing the two together, we can make decisions about investing what we have (1) to generate the income (2) we require for our lifestyle. We do this with cashflow statement (for the past year) and cashflow projections (for the future).

Here are the three calculators you can use to keep track of your financial health, by understanding your EXPENSES and CURRENT NET WORTH, and linking the two through your ESSENTIAL INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO in your CASHFLOW PROJECTION.
